ABSTRACT
Sellulose-based hydrogels were prepared by cross-link and foaming technique has been successfully
performed. Cross-link reaction occurs in the hydrogel were characterized by IR spectrophotometer. Waterbinding
capacity was also to measure by the ratio of hydrogel swelling test. The results showed that the
hydrogel is formed physically white-transparent with strong structural stability and IR spectrophotometer
analysis showed the presence of absorption bands at 1158.07 cm-1 and 1063.06 cm-1 is corresponding to
ether functional groups which indicates cross-link reaction has occurred. Swelling ratio of hydrogels with
foaming technique is greater than without foaming.
