Abstract


This study aimed to describe the improvement of professional cometence and Critical Thinking Ability of biology student after the implementation of inquiry-base module. The study was coducted by using a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. Subject are the 2nd semester of biology education student who took general biology subject in Faculty of Education UMMI of 28 Student. The instruments used in this study are: the ability to critical thinking tests which can simultaneously measure the student mastery concept and feedback questionnaire on the use of inquiry-based module. The result of statistical test of mastery of concepts using the t test the value was thitung=6.818, which is bigger than tteble=1.676 and t tes critical thinking skills acquired data thitung=4.518, which is bigger than ttable=1.676. Based on the t-test result, it is known that the ability of concept mastery and critical thinking of the student in the experiment class was significantly different than those in the control class. The improvement difference proves that the inquiry-based module could improve the students professional competence in terms of concept mastery and the student ability of critical thinking.
